Proactive Maintenance
a maintenance strategy for maximizing the reliability of equipment by corrective actions aimed at failure root causes, not failure symptoms, faults, machine wear, or fixed schedules. Proactive maintenance involves setting quantifiable standards relating to each root cause, maintenance programs to control the root cause properties, and measurement or monitoring of each root cause property.
