Stack Effect

Stack Effect
vertical airflow between floors of a building caused by temperature differences between indoor and outdoor air. When indoor air is warmer than outdoor air it rises and escapes though the upper parts of the building shell as cool air enters the lower parts of the building; the flow is reversed if indoor air is cooler than outdoor air.
